Dear Parents and Community Members,
Friends of Wildcat Baseball (FOWB) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the continuous improvement of Libertyville High School baseball. The mission of the organization is to assist the Wildcat Baseball Program and coaching staff by providing resources to offer the finest playing facilities and opportunities available for our athletes.
We are proud of our Libertyville High School Athletic Programs and want to contribute to their continued success. We have a deep respect for the game of baseball and understand how our baseball program is an integral part of the high school and our community. We are family and friends of ballplayers and ex-ballplayers; we are fans of the game; we are advocates of amateur athletic programs; we are local citizens and businesses that understand the benefits of having widely recognized sports success as a part of the Libertyville culture. Membership in FOWB is open to all parents/guardians of Libertyville High School Baseball participants, and all community members.
Members and supporters of FOWB have contributed to many accomplishments that positively impact Wildcat Baseball. Annually we support the players by providing partial funding to help the Varsity team participate in a Spring Break tournament, fund “team building” events for the freshman and sophomore teams, purchase certain equipment that would be otherwise unfunded, and provide an “On the Prowl” keepsake baseball program with photos and statistics. FOWB has been active in supporting field improvements for all levels of LHS Baseball. Some past accomplishments include: professional dugouts, brick walls in left and right field and behind home plate, and a new scoreboard. In recent years, we extended the warning track, added new batting cages, and added additional stadium seating. New “hitter’s eye” trees were planted in center field in honor of Gregg Sternaman, an LHS coach and community member. Recently, the Freshman field at Nicholas Dowden received new infield turf, new dugout tops, and an extension to the batting cages through cooperation with Libertyville Youth Baseball. The Freshman team is now also playing home games on the Juniors Field at the LYB complex at Butler Park.
Friends of Wildcat Baseball meetings are generally held once a month and are usually hosted at the home of an FOWB member or at LHS. Check the website at www.wildcatsbaseball.com for up-to-the-minute meeting information. Parents, members, and community supporters are encouraged to attend the meetings to get information on the teams and to learn about upcoming events, fundraisers, and opportunities to volunteer. Please join us. We look forward to your support.
We hope that you will become a member of FOWB. Our organization cannot survive without its members and the help of its volunteers. Please complete the Membership Application, Volunteer Form, and complimentary Wildcat Wish form and return them along with a check made payable to FOWB. Please contact me at any time with your questions or comments.
